Artist’s Statement: The creation of pottery from start to finish is a fascinating process as the clay changes in form and chemical composition from a malleable organic mass to a finished piece of art. Knowing that others will be using and enjoying a hand-made piece of my pottery is inspirational and energizing. The enjoyment I feel while creating with clay is borne to the user of the pottery.
Most of my clay work is wheel-thrown stoneware, some of which is altered in shape and then electric kiln fired to cone 6. Hand-building is now becoming an oft used process. Designed with the user in mind, the majority of my pottery is functional in nature.
