Artist’s Statement: I see clay as inventive. It’s a rich medium that offers a generous and tireless play of possibilities. Clay allows expression of the whimsical and the symbolic. “Sometimes, simultaneously!”
My enjoyment with the visual arts began in elementary school, but for some thirty years I have gotten down and dirty with clay.
Medium: Earthenware clay. It’s so versatile, it allows me to handbuild and wheelthrow any shape. Low temperature glazes are an artist’s personal pallet of colors, from the bright to the pastel, high gloss to matte.

More information: “Behind all of my imagery is a legend or myth which I create along with the work; both the story and the sculpture develop together.”
Altering wheelthrown shapes while still damp makes the faces of my Whimsical fitures unique and one-of-a-kind. The figures are assembled, fired to 04. Surface decoration is achieved when textural marks are infused with engobes, layered with slips and underglaze. Each piece is created solely by me, the artist.
