Arthur Sekula is a “2008 Art in the Round Contest” participant.
Artist’s Statement: I find it interesting to create something that basically starts out as ”mud” yet can be fomred into a work of art. My ceramic pieces evolve from an experiment to the final piece. There are different ways to look at my objects, either in a functional or non-functional way. As a functional object, it can be used as a container; as a non-functional object, it can be viewed as a sculpture.
Artistic Resume: I have been an artist for 31 years. I received my undergraduate degree in art from Stephen F. Austin State University. I have been teaching art for the past 15 years and have distinguished myself as both an artist and an educator. I teach and my studio is in a small East Texas town. I take pride in winning awards – from purchase awards to best of show awards – in state, national and international shows and exhibits.
