Cathryn Peters is a “2008 Art in the Round Contest” participant.
Artist’s Statement: My antler baskets are a departure from the chair caning and wicker repair career I’ve led and allow for steady streams of creativity. Each time I embark on a new creation, I love sitting quietly with the antlers as they “speak” to me, telling me what form they want me to explore.
I love working with the masculine element of the antler, using it as an integral part of the basket, but creating the feminine form of the vessel. The contrast of the two blended together excites and stimulates me; yet I’m grounded and in contact with the universe and all she presents as I perform the age-old craft of basketweaving.

Very nice, well crafted, museum quality.
I have been an admirer of Cathryn’s work for over 10 years and I have seen the quality and creativity of her work evolve to what it is today. She is continuing to explore natural and found materials and is a pioneer in eco-friendly/recycled art.
