Artist’s Statement: I admire the structure of bird’s nests. By incorporating honeysuckle vine into my rattan “basketBOWL” forms, I produce one-of-a-kind sculptures often embellished with surface color using buttons. Even birds recycle industrial materials into the structure of the nest.
Medium: I enjoy the infinite possibilities offered through weaving and twining rattan and natural vine materials such as honeysuckle and akebia vine. Vines are often invasive species which are free to harvest from our environment and reduce the overgrowth in a “green” way.
