Artist’s Statement: I am a mixed media artist and an aspiring doll artist. My artistic goals are to turn ordinary gourds into extraordinary pieces of art and to express the whimsical side of my imagination through my soft sculpture figures.
I am completely absorbed and passionately committed to each piece of art I create. However, I am also equally detached to each piece. I am therefore able to work at my highest levels and still have the freedom to completely screw it up and throw it away. I am free to think outside the box, to push myself out of my comfort zone, and work through my limits. I am always excited about the unlimted combinations and possibilities one finds when working in mixed media and the potential it brings to me, the artist, to create unique one-of-a-kind pieces.
Medium: I work in mixed media because I can utilize all of my hand skills, knowledge of materials, design, and surface techniques to create unique one-of-a-kind pieces.
