Artist’s Statement: I love finding a discarded piece of wood which is destined for a fireplace or the landfill, mount it on my lathe, and gently awaken the beauty found inside. No two pieces of wood are the same. That is one of the things that makes this art form so enjoyable. You can duplicate a form or shape, but you can never duplicate the “paint”.
I have been turning seriously for about 3 or 4 years. I work exclusively with wood, both local and exotics from around the world. Typically, the wood I use for my turnings is left natural without using any stains or colorings.
