Lisa Scroggins is a “2008 Art in the Round Contest” participant.
Artist’s Statement: I am happiest when my hands are busy creating. It is through the medium of clay that I feel I express myself the best. I think that if I can imagine it, I can make it. I find immense enjoyment in the marriage of the thrown vessel with the sculpted additions creating asymmetry out of symmetry.
I love art history and I am very inspired by Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art. I also have a deep love of nature and find that if I’m not actually creating an animal to go on my vessels, I am creating legs and feet on my pieces to lend movement and life to the vessel.
