Artist’s Statement:
My work is constantly evolving because that is when I am most content. Each piece I create leads me to try something new; every idea leads me on to the next step. I am only happy when I am moving forward. Right now, I am captivated by taking the things I experience in mythology as well as the natural world and interpreting them through the medium of glass. I want people to feel the same magic that I feel as my creative mind emerges, through the flame, into art.
I discovered the art of glass six years ago at the age of nineteen. I’d had a creative spirit all my life but art fell to the wayside until I was awakened by this wonderful medium – a discovery that truly changed my life.
Medium/Resume:
I work with glass using the method of flamework or lampwork. Since the first time I heated a “gather of glass” up in the flame and watched it droop to the floor, I have been fascinated with the medium.
I studied extensively at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Along with instructing workshops at my private studio and other teaching facilities, I also exhibit my work through shows and galleries nationally.
