Porcelain vessels by Sandra Lance (copyright Sandra Lance)
Artist’s Statement: Having had a diversified career, come mid-life I gravitated towards art because of the satisfaction derived in interpreting the peaceful aspects of nature and bringing it to the functional porcelain object used for special occasions. It has become my life’s work.
While many contemporaries are “retired”, I’m delighted to be “up and coming” and an entrepreneur. Like Beatrice Wood, I’d like to be making beautiful pottery into my 100’s!
Medium: Porcelain pottery. I enjoy this medium because, using both hands, each piece can be uniquely shaped. Also, I enjoy the chemistry of glaze making – it is a marvelous challenge. The artwork can be both functional as well as visually nourishing.
